Certified translations for the British Consulate in Italy: how they work and what they cost
What a certified translation is
A certified translation is a translation accompanied by a signed statement from the translator confirming that it is a true and complete rendering of the original. The statement includes the translator's name, credentials and contact details, the date, and the source and target languages.
This is the format used in the United Kingdom and by British consular offices: no court step is involved, but the certificate must follow precise requirements.
Certified vs sworn (asseverata) translation
In Italy a sworn translation requires an oath before a court clerk, with an official record and duty stamps. Italian courts, municipalities, prefectures and universities normally require this format.
The UK system has no equivalent of the Italian oath: the translator's certification is what counts. An Italian sworn translation is therefore often unnecessary — and more expensive — when the document is destined for the British Consulate, the Home Office or UK Visas & Immigration.

Turnaround and delivery
A standard single-page document is normally delivered within 24-48 working hours. You receive a signed PDF by email, ready for online submission to the British authorities; a paper copy can be posted on request.
Pricing
A certified translation of a single-page document costs €29, certification included. You can buy it online and upload the document during checkout.
For documents of two pages or more, or for full application files (visa, marriage, British citizenship), the price depends on the page count: request a free quote and get an answer within 24 working hours.
How to send your documents
A clear scan or photo of the document is enough, with all stamps and edges visible. No paper original is needed: the certification refers to the copy you send.
